Meet Ashleigh
Ashleigh is the owner and lead therapist at Karuna Day Spa. She is a qualified somatologist and has more than 10 years' experience in the beauty and wellness industry. She spent the early years of her career working for upmarket spas and salons in Johannesburg before relocating to the Lowveld to pursue her own aspirations. Ashleigh took the leap and founded KarunA Day Spa, located at The Farm House just a few kilometers outside the town of Hoedspruit. Through KarunA, she had the opportunity to work at some magnificent lodges in the area and loves helping clients see
that, through self-care and self-nurture, they are each uniquely beautiful.
Ashleigh has always been familiar with the beauty industry growing up with a therapist mom and being inspired by her. Her mom had a salon at home where one was always made aware of the clients’ need for peace and tranquility. With this background she followed in her mom’s footsteps and study a 2-year somatology course through Success International in Johannesburg. She was especially interested in the anatomy and physiology of the human body. The more she studied, the more amazed she was at how incredible and unique the human body really is. This is where her passion stems from.
In order to finalise her qualification, she had to invest many hours as an intern in different salons and spas to build up the required field experience. This included busy salons where treatments were quick as well as spas where relaxation was priority. After obtaining her qualification, Ashleigh started working as a full-time therapist alongside many experts in the industry, including having the opportunity to work with a plastic surgeon.
She relocated to Hoedspruit and is still passionate about her career and her clients.
